Edith Hählen: "I received a lot of trust and support from my coach and am now successful as a self-employed person. I even live and work part of the time at Gran Cranaria now."

“I worked as a special education teacher for years until I was in a car accident. I got whiplash and because of this I was in a lot of pain and tired quickly. I no longer had the energy for a social life and standing in front of the class was also far too taxing. For a while I tried to work until I was completely exhausted.

When I had been at home for more than a year, my employer put me in touch with Dynamisch Bureau for a 2nd track trajectory. I was very happy to get help in my situation and it clicked immediately with my coach. I had visited two other agencies, but the choice for Dynamic Agency was quickly made.

I loved the personal guidance in the process and extras such as the TMA Talent Analysis and taking professional photos. Also, thanks to the coach’s tips and questions, I always managed to stay on course and make good decisions.

During the process, in consultation with my coach, I made contact with two organizations. In both, I was able to gain work experience until the end of my employment: supervising students in robotics and supervising care students one-on-one. After my WIA application, I was also able to continue to work as a self-employed person for both.

It’s great that Dynamisch Bureau also does projects through the UWV. As a result, I was able to follow a course at Dynamisch Bureau reimbursed by the UWV where I received guidance in working as a self-employed person. That was very meaningful and I got a lot of trust and support from my coach. Now I even have two companies!

As independent care students, I guide individually under the name Ledith, which stands for: “Learning with Edith”. I focus on children of expats. In addition, I am setting up a company in Gran Canaria for the school holidays, Kids & Bricks. In addition to playing with Lego, I teach all kinds of activities such as making stop motion videos, robotics, building and learning English. This can be done individually, as a group such as a children’s party, or as a summer camp. The fact that I speak four languages comes in handy here. Kids & Bricks is a great new adventure that allows me to live and work in a wonderful climate, meet a lot of great new people and do what I stand for: making learning fun for children!

What else do I want to say to others in a similar situation? Know that where doors close, doors also open. Never give up and work step by step to achieve your goal. Follow your heart and do work you love. Dynamisch Bureau can help you with that!”
